On a Facebook message board there is a roaring discussion between people who hate the computer lingo versus regular American English. Example: UR instead of You're, LOL instead of laughing or laughing out loud. The comments have degenerated into messages filled with curse words which I found ludicrous. They are angry over whether or not someone uses UR but not over those using the "F" word and it's derivatives!?! People are no longer ashamed of their filthy language. They no longer apologize for it. It's suppose to be acceptable and they don't care if it offends anyone around them. God has a different perspective.

1. the expression of a wish that misfortune, evil, doom, etc., befall a person, group, etc.
2. a formula or charm intended to cause such misfortune to another.
3. the act of reciting such a formula.
4. a profane oath; curse word.
5. an evil that has been invoked upon one.
6. the cause of evil, misfortune, or trouble.
7. something accursed.
8. Slang. the menstrual period; menstruation (usually prec. by the).
9. an ecclesiastical censure or anathema.

–verb (used with object)
10. to wish or invoke evil, calamity, injury, or destruction upon.
11. to swear at.
12. to blaspheme.
13. to afflict with great evil.
14. to excommunicate.

–verb (used without object)
15. to utter curses; swear profanely.

Scriptures addressing cursing:Exodus 21:17 Death is the punishment for cursing your father or mother.

Leviticus 24:10-16 And the son of a woman of Israel, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel. And this son of the woman of Israel and a man of Israel struggled together in the camp. And the son of the woman of Israel blasphemed the name of Jehovah, and cursed. And they brought him to Moses. (And his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) And they put him under guard, so that the mind of Jehovah might be declared to them. And Jehovah spoke to Moses saying, "Bring forth the despiser outside the camp. And let all that heard lay their hands on his head. Let all the congregation stone him. And you shall speak to the sons of Israel saying, 'Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. And he that blasphemes the Name of Jehovah shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall surely stone him. And the stranger as well, even as he that is born in the land; when he blasphemes the Name, he shall be put to death...'"

Psalms 10:7 They curse and tell lies, and all they talk about is how to be cruel or how to do wrong.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good. And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth the evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Romans 3:12-14 They have all turned away and are worthless. There isn't one person who does right. Their words are like an open pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies. Each word is as deadly as the fangs of a snake, and they say nothing but bitter curses.

Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual will share in God's kingdom. Neither will any thief or greedy person or drunkard or anyone who curses and cheats others.

Ephesians 4:29 Let not any filthy word go out of your mouth, but if any is good to building up in respect of need, that it may give grace to the ones hearing.

Ephesians 5:3-4 You are God's people, so don't let it be said that any of you are immoral or indecent or greedy. Don't use dirty or foolish or filthy words. Instead, say how thankful you are.

Colossians 3:8 But now also put off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, shameful speech out of your mouth.

James 3:8-11 But the tongue may not be controlled by man; it is an unresting evil, it is full of the poison of death. With it we give praise to our Lord and Father; and with it we put a curse on men who are made in God's image. Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, it is not right for these things to be so. Does the fountain send from the same outlet sweet and bitter water?
