Thomas Elzie Kelly, Sr. and Sallie Jane Brown

Thomas Elzie Kelly, Sr. is not in Stan's direct line. He would be Stan's first cousin 4 times removed. Their common ancestor is Thomas Norman Kelly. But I would like to find more information on this family. If you have any corrections or can fill in some of my missing information, please contact me at Mom25dogs@gmail.com

Broke In Store
Friday night the store house of Mr. Elzie Kelly was broken into and several dollars worth of goods stolen. Sometime during the next day Mr. Kelly saw a new pocket knife in the hands of a negro boy. He asked the boy where he got the knife. The boy replied that he bought it from Dool Eubanks . Mr. Kelly and Mr. Gallman came to Union Saturday afternoon and saw Eubanks, but Eubanks was inclined to dodge them and at last did get away from them. Mr. Kelly got a warrant from Magistrate Johnson, and the warrant was indorsed (sic) by the sheriff and sent to Mr. Joe Porter a constable, for the Kelton magistrate. Sunday, Mr. Parker arrested Eubanks and lodged him in the County jail. Mr. Kelly will of course get other proof. Dool Eubanks is a negro who has served several terms on the chain gang, having been convicted of larceny. He once got away from the county chain gang near West Springs altho he was shot at several times while making his escape. He was lucky enough not to get shot. He was afterwards caught and brought back by Mr. Robt. Sanders.

Lockhart Junction, Dec 4. - Thanksgiving day dawned upon a lovely white world of snow, making it altogether ideal, reminding us of our Puritan fathers and mothers when a beautiful snow came on Thanksgiving Day, as it looks like the two being associated together and reviving memories of stories told us by old people of sleigh rides to the homes of some of their neighbors...
Mr. T.E. Kelly has made the best crop of cotton we have heard of for a year like this. He says he made 12 bales of cotton on eleven acres of land and some of them weighing 800 pounds to the bale. Mr. Kelly says he used his fertilizer as he cultivated his cotton just like some do their corn, and that was a good plan for a year like this, for it being so wet the first application, I believe was lost with the rain...

Effie Jessica Harmon Hazzard Kelly died in 1966 in Columbia, Richland County, SC according to what I saw on someone's family tree on Ancestry.com but I could not find her death certificate. Since she wasn't with Thomas in the 1930 U.S. Census and he is listed as a widower, she may have died between 1920 and 1930 and the 1966 date is incorrect.
