God Begins Each Day With a Sunrise, Announcing His Radiant Presence!

June 25th, God Calling
Open Your Hands and your heart to receive this day as a precious gift from Me.
I begin each day with a sunrise, announcing My radiant Presence. By the time you
rise from your bed, I have already prepared the way before you, I eagerly await
your first conscious thought. I rejoice when you glance My way.

Bring Me the gift of thanksgiving, which opens your heart to rich communion with Me,
Because I am God, From whom all blessings flow, thankfulness is the best way to draw
near Me, Sin praise songs to Me; tell of My wondrous works Remember that I take
great delight in you; I rejoice over you with singing.

My sister, Melinda, fixed up this pretty little pond area between their house and Mom & Dad's house.

Then she went to Dad's garden and took these photos.

Here Are Some Photos Of Our Dogs Tonight

MoneyPenny relaxes in one of the many dog beds throughout the house.

Here MoneyPenny gives one of her boys their nightly face washing. Spunky cannot go to bed with a dirty face. She does this for each boy and Persephone.

She thinks I'm her big dumb puppy so she gives me a face washing every night too.

Persephone on her usual pillow on my bed.

The boys are in a frisky mood!

Capo flips over on his back and rolls around!

Dresden shows off his beach shirt.

He shows off his diaper too! They think they are such big boys to wear diapers. Iggies are notoriously hard to potty train so my boys wear infant diapers held in place with a belly band when they are in the house. On days with good weather I take the diapers off when they get their play time outside. On days with bad weather they sometimes get diaper rash and have to have some medicated powder. The infant diapers are a real good solution.

And here is his diaper! He's so proud of his diapers.

My Yard Sale Buys

Saturday, Elaine and I hit some yard sales close to the house. Since gas is up so much we are trying to stay close to home instead of going across town somewhere. Anyway, we did well today. Here are my yard sale buys:

For $2

For $1

The frame was .25, the cold cream jar was $1 and the casserole dish was $1

This bowl is a perfect match for my bright blue kitchen with white trim and yellow accessories. Got it for $1.

I got this toy for my nephew's birthday. He will be 5 years old. I paid $2, washed it and put in new batteries and everything works. It's missing the masts, I think, but it's probably safer that way! Anyway, this nephew gets lots of toys and if he doesn't like this one, I haven't wasted a lot of money, it can be thrown away. I think it's cute, fun and cheap, so it's a winner for me!

Southern Sunday Dinner

I came across 2 old Paula Deen magazines yesterday at a yard sale. I bought them for a dime apiece and pored over them. In the May/June 2006 I found Simply Square Meals-Retro Home Cooking Is Back. Today I made the Chicken Fried Steak on page 25.

Chicken Fried Steak

1 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 Tbsp seasoned salt
2/3 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 1/4 lb cubed steak
vegetable oil for frying

In a shallow dish, combine crackers, flour and seasoned salt. In a wide bowl, whisk together buttermilk and eggs. Dredge steaks in cracker mixture; dip in buttermilk mixture and dredge again in the cracker mixture. Place prepared steaks on a wire rack to set the crust about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, using a well seasoned cast iron skillet (that's my words) heat about 1/2 inch of oil to 360F. Fry steaks 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Remove steaks to a clean wire rack to let excess oil drip off. You can keep steaks warm in oven preheated to 225F.

Milk Gravy

4 Tbsp all-purpose flour
3 cups milk
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt

Carefully drain the hot oil into a heat-proof container leaving a couple of Tbsp of oil and the scrapings. On med-high heat, whisk in flour and whisk constantly for 1 minute. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly and add salt and pepper. Stirring constantly cook until thickened. Serve over the steaks.
