Myrtle Beach, SC

We are back at Myrtle Beach, SC this week. My sister and her son have been house and dog sittting for us and I'm so thankful for sisters who can and will do this for us. We did bring Persephone with us and she's doing so well and getting really spoiled. Stan's mother and sister came with us to stay the first half of the week and my parents are coming for the last half of the week. We've had a good time together and Kathi seems to really be fond of Persephone. We went out to a Mexican restaurant the first night they were here with us since they can't eat seafood. Last night I made a salad and Stan grilled us some shrimp and chicken kabobs and baked us some potatoes.

Stan's brother, Kenny and his family are down here this week too. They rented a house in Garden City. Monday, Kenny, Stan and Evans went fishing on Stan's little boat in the inland waterway. Kenny caught some kind of big fish. This morning Stan, Evans and Evans fiance, Chelsea, went fishing and they had caught some fish but too small to keep.

Peggy and Kathi have been on the beach a lot and I've been trying to stay cool in the trailer. Yesterday afternoon when it got too hot, they came in and we got dressed and went shopping. Stan stayed on the beach about all day.

Mom & Dad have already left to come down and I'm watching for them.

Baby On The Way Scrapbook Page

My niece and her husband announced to the family, on their first anniversary, that she is pregnant! We are so thrilled. My sister, Melinda, got some great photos of them on the night of their announcement so I used one to make this scrapbook page.

I picked a baby paper that wasn't "boy" or "girl". Since Kyle was wearing a green shirt and Jenny was wearing a turquoise dress I split the matting underneath their photo.

I drew the title and matted it on the turquoise and green. I tried to make it look quilted. I used a black pen to draw with and then used colored pens and pencils to do the plaid and buttons. I had bought some perfume with a beautiful flocked turquoise box. Flocking is popular with scrapbooking right now so I used the box to make the flower at the top of the page. I matted it on a "quilt square", the turquoise and green. I topped it with a jewel. I used a vintage Winnie the Pooh and popped it up on pop dots. I made the sign, threaded and tied the ribbon and made it look like it was hanging from Winnie the Pooh's paw. It is also on pop dots to make it look 3D.

How Are Your Children Affected?

"…in the Scripture the Israelites experienced the fruit of their disobedience after their exodus from Egypt. If they had promptly obeyed God, how much greater their lives would have been. Many of them and their children died in the wilderness because they would not submit to God’s ways. Their children were affected by their decisions, and so are ours."

Hebrews 3:8-11 Amplified Version
Do not harden your hearts, as [happened] in the rebellion [of Israel] and their provocation and embitterment [of Me] in the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers tried [My patience] and tested [My forbearance] and found I stood their test, and they saw My works for 40 years. And so I was provoked (displeased and sorely grieved) with that generation, and said, They always err and are led astray in their hearts, and they have not perceived or recognized My ways and become progressively better and more experimentally and intimately acquainted with them. Accordingly, I swore in My wrath and indignation, They shall not enter into My rest.

Psalm 95:7-11 Amplified Version
For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts as at Meribah and as at Massah in the day of temptation in the wilderness, when your fathers tried My patience and tested Me, proved Me, and saw My work [of judgment]. Forty years long was I grieved and disgusted with that generation, and I said, It is a people that do err in their hearts, and they do not approve, acknowledge, or regard My ways. Wherefore I swore in My wrath that they would not enter My rest [the land of promise].

"Your decision to obey God affects other people, and when you decide to disobey God, that also affects others too. You may disobey God and choose to stay in the wilderness, but please keep in mind that …your decisions will keep (your children) in the wilderness with you. They may manage to get themselves out when they are grown, but I can assure you that they will pay a price for your disobedience.
Obedience is a far reaching choice; it closes the gates of hell and opens the windows of heaven, and it has the power to affect many people. Just think of it: Because of Jesus’ willingness to be obedient, countless multitudes will be brought into right standing with God.

"Your life might be in better shape now if someone in your past obeyed God. If there is a cycle of disobedience in your family or among your friends, why not break it by refusing to be disobedient in your own life? Tell God you want to obey and ask Him to help you. That way, you will set yourself and your children up for great blessings."

By Joyce Meyer in the Everyday Bible, pg 1813, Romans 5, “The Power Of Obedience”
