Samuel G. Harris (DOB: abt 1772 in ? ; DOD: Between 1850-1860 in Union County, SC) Samuel migrated from Virginia some time after 1790 with his brother, Marion. They may have been from Chesterfield County, Virginia because that is where Tryphenia was from. They came with Tryphenia and her parents, Thomas and Sallie Harris. Marion Harris settled in Rutherford County, NC and Samuel settled on Brown's Creek in Union County, SC near what is now Kelly's Station on the Lockhart Branch of the Southern Railroad. Union County was formed in 1775 after the Cherokee Indians gifted the land to the Greenville/Spartanburg County lines to the King as a good will gesture. Settlers poured into the new land and Samuel was one of them.

They had 5 children that I'm aware of: Tryphenia "Tryphena" Harris, Flemming "Flemmin" Harris, Franscanna Harris, Nancy Taylor Harris, Pleasant Harris.

Hi. I am happy that you have done this research. I've written before.
W.H.S. Harris, son of Samuel Pleasant Harris, was born in Union County on 24 May 1839. He married Maryann Ophelia Foster sometime around 1870, and they are found in the 1900 census for Jonesville. He died 28 Dec 1917 and was buried in the Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County, SC. Ophelia was the daugher of William Smith Foster and Jane Hancock, so the couple were first cousins. They didn't have any children together, but William had fathered a boy named Chester C. Harris in 1866, mother unknown, who died in Daula, Georgia, 15 Aug 1901. I have this information, but I am not sure whether this was an interpretation of mine or clear fact. James Lemuel Harris was my second great grandfather. He had three children with Nancy Gallman, but after the Civil War, he had a family with Amanda Millwood (AKA Bradley).

I would appreciate any source info you have on the James Lemuel Harris and Amanda Millwood story. James Harris is my great grandfather, and their son, Samuel Jackson Harris,is my grandfather. Sam Harris was adopted by RN Harris. The story told to my Mother and her siblings was that Sam was adopted after his parents died. Is this a cleaned up version of the story? How did you discover this?
