Sister's Lemon Pound Cake

Sister's Lemon Pound Cake


Cake:

2 cups sugar
1 lb margarine or butter
5 eggs
3 cups plain flour, sifted
1 can Eagle Brand canned milk
1 Tbsp lemon flavoring
1 tsp vanilla


Cream the sugar and margarine (or butter) together. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Add flavorings. Add sifted flour and milk alternatley ending with flour. Pour into greased tube pan and bake on 325 for a little over an hour. Begin checking it to see when it will be done as different ovens may cook a little differently.


Glaze:

1/2 stick margarine (or butter)
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp lemon flavoring
1 1/3 cups powdered sugar


Beat with mixer and pour over cake while it's still warm so that it melts into it.
